U-verse promises faster, But in 8 yr's they have never been close to what they promised before. ("high speed DSL When speed tested on web, It tested WAY BELOW dsl.) When I cancel ATT, Do I lose all my SBCglobal.net Email info?? (old emails, contact's folders etc.) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Yes, you will lose your @... email address if you switch to another ISP. There are many ways to make sure you don't lose your emails and contacts. Some ways are easy, others not so much. If you are using a standalone email client such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or others, you won't lose anything but your old email address. Most people use the WebMail interface (I don't) and that will go away when you dump ATT. But, there are ways to import all of your archived emails into your email client or even into another webmail service. Suggestion #1: get a Gmail address if you don't already have one. My ISP at home recently blocked the sending of emails from the address that I am writing from right now. With some tweaks, I set up all outbound email to go through Gmail but the Reply To address is me@... and it works almost anywhere in the world. Mike

What Mike said. If your not using an email client download Thunderbird, it's free, and set up a pop account for your current email. It should see all the email in your inbox as new and download it. You might have to import the email in other folders. Should be able to import your contacts to Thunderbird. My daughter had an imap account that she only accessed through the web and we did this so she would have all her emails and contacts. I wish I could give you more details but we did this a year and a half ago. I use Thunderbird and like it better than Outlook that my wife uses for her business. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa
