Ruger has come out with a rifle that sounds by the description (except for the weight) very similar to the KLR. the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle, the one rifle to have if you could only have one. It is the perfect lightweight, hard-hitting, do-it-all bolt-action rifle - where rugged, reliable Ruger meets the practical, tactical. http://www.ruger.com/products/gunsiteScoutRifle/index.html Anyone have one of these rifles? I pick mine up this week. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Scout Rifle? Is that what a Boy Scout carries to keep his scoutmaster at a safe distance? Seriously, though, I have read quite a bit about this rifle, and it looks like fun, but I dunno if it's "the one rifle to have if you only have one". I always heard a .22lf fit that bill.

I m hoping it is as fun as it looks. Rifles are like Lays potato chips, you can t have just one. Scout Rifle? Is that what a Boy Scout carries to keep his scoutmaster at a safe distance? That's exactly it. Sometimes a scoutmaster will offer to share, with a scout, the carafe of mimosas he's mixed. That's ok but he said scoutmaster - shouldn't assume it will lead to something else. If the scout has his Ruger rifle near his spot by the campfire, chances are it won't go any further than champagne and orange juice. Bogdan [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

The only "22" I would trust against dangerous game of any kind is a 220 Swift. .223 is not a "22" in my book. What did you mean by ".22lf"? Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

Reminded me of a date I had several years ago. My lady friend was reclining on the sofa while we watched TV and hit her head on something. "Ow! There's a pistol behind this cushion!" Me, "Just one?" =) eddie

I recently saw the scout rifle at an NRA event. They said there is a long waiting list to get one. I really liked it. It had peep sights and a place to attach weaver scope mounts. Pesonally, I like the scope mounted closer to the eye. That is the only fault I have with the gun. It has a large capacity mag and really looks and feels good. rw TotalHealth Islam is as dangerous in a man as rabies in a dog. This rifle comes with Ruger rings and a 20 round steel magazine. I also purchased a 5 round poly mag for mine. You can mount a scope conventionally close to your eye or attach to the Picatinny rail for more eye relief. These guns are becoming available. I stopped in two shops in Grand Junction, CO. and they both had them in stock.
