Hey All Whos are automatic garrage door opener guy? The door does not close, it starts to then stops, as if something is in the path. BUT when I unlatch it, Close it by hand, (And it works smoothly) then hit the button it operates ok. (I can not, assist it in closing while attached) IF, there was something in the path, OR the sensor's were out of alignment, it would NOT EVER close, even when I detach it and close by hand first. Some openers have a "Vacation" button, and I can't remember how it operates but it is not normal operation , (I don't go out much), but you might want to check it out with a neighbour, or get on the horn to the manufacturer. Hope that helped, DC DC

I just dealt with a similar deal. The door would only close if I held the wall button down until the door was completely closed. Otherwise the door would only move a few inches and stop and the gdo light would flash. In my case the solution was to replace the sensors; after I did that everything works as it should. Kevin

Don't rule out the sensors. I installed a new opener and everything worked fine. The next morning it had the same behavior as yours, I almost took it back to the store. I messed around and found the sensors were just out of alignment. It would work at night but not during the day. I realigned the sensors and then it worked fine. Alan Henderson A13-hacked Iowa
