just sold my dakar, seek 09 or later klr

Post by matteeanne@yahoo.com » Sat Jun 30, 2012 5:18 pm

After a 8 year Hiatus into KTM's, DL1000's, DRZ's, and a Dakar, I am going back to the cheap koolaid. If anyone knows of a 09 or later in the PNW hit me up, have cash, prefer bags and guards but will consider anything, up to 500 miles from Seattle. Oh and Fred, it was nice to meet you! And so returns one of our wayward children! Welcome back to the non koolaid club!

In this heat, I'm glad to have the KLR to ride. Mine's an 09' with the larger fairing and rad. heat on me isn't a problem. I have changed the coolant once with Honda pre-mix and early on added a Thermo-Bob remote thermostat. I know the remote 'stat is more for rapid warm ups and steady running temps. For that it works great. Even so, the coolant gauge varies quite little and the fan rarely comes on, even in afternoon traffic. I wish that were the case with my FZ8. It's radiator is so tightly packed against the front of the bike, it's a wonder air moves through it at all. There are two fans that I hope never fail. They are about $250 EACH. eddie [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
