rear shock spring on a 2008 klr

Post by Keith » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:22 pm

Any recommendations for a new shock spring for a saged out 2008 KLR ? It is lowered 1.5 inches and is ridden 2 up a lot (combined weight about 335 pounds). Other times it is ridden by a rider at about 200 pounds.. Any guidance appreciated..

Since you say your bike is lowered, I have to guess that you are using lowering links and not a shortened shock. Using lowering links changes your suspension s geometry and will effectively soften the spring rate. Your best bet would be to go with a shortened Progressive Suspension shock that comes with a 500/560 spring. This will make a big difference in the way your bike handles weight. I read that Powerbars work well to temporarily patch a side case in the field. Not sure I want to eat them any more if they are oil-tight :) -- ian http://www.scarletfuries.com http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Scarlet-Furies/121218125931 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
