My local NAPA did not have # 704-1371 last Friday; they had this similar one. NAPA #704-1078. I bought it as it has been mentioned as a good washer on other forums as well. The difference is slight. white in color; -1078 is completly uniform in its shape and depth. blue-ish in color; -1371 has a recess for the bolt head to slip into. I have noted in the past this causes the washer to deform easily. The reason I like the NAPA soft washer versus the factory part is the NAPA washer is reusable, seals well and takes less torque for proper installation. I regularly hear of folks ripping out the threads in the case using the factory crush washer. Sometimes they are trying to stop a leak/seep and other times they are just ham fisted. I know they are suppose to replace the crush washer every time but that I'll guess usually doesn't happen. It doesn't make the factory part bad, just the results of some folks using it improperly are bad. With the NAPA soft washer once the drain plug is finger tight/snug, another 1/4 turn is all it takes to finish tightening. I monitored my first use of the soft washer to make sure it wouldn't loosen. I've never had a leak, seep or the drain plug loosen in about 28,000 smiles of use with the NAPA soft washer. I used my first NAPA soft washer for maybe 6 or more oil changes. I replaced it a few years ago when I did my 685 kit as I had one I'd been carrying around for a few years and was also doing a lot of other work on the bike. I know I didn't really need to replace it but it just seemed like a good time.
