So, someone gave me a 2004 Yamaha TT-R 225. Won't start, probably just because of bad storage. BUT the the airbox is about 1/2 full of what seems like motor oil. What the heck?

Many thanks for this. I think both lights and the dash indicator are all behaving the same way, but I'll double check. And I'll also go through all the obvious connections to check for corrosion, and replace the bulbs.
I ride the bike intensively for a month or so a couple, three times a year when visiting my home turf, so the bike sits covered but unattended for three or four months at a time, giving gremlins a regular crack at her.
