fork brace question...............

Post by Jim Tegler » Sun Apr 29, 2012 5:35 pm

My fork brace is mounted such that the boots do sit on the top edge. There isn't much clearance to the wheel but this is a roadie-type item. Mine's one from Eagle Mike, but the variety I looked at before buying all looked pretty similar. Jim Sent from a lovely big desktop

turn signal relay failure

Post by Jeffrey Parker » Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:49 pm

Quick question: right turn signal on my A14 stopped flashing last night after a long ride; the lights go on when I push the switch, but just burn steady, and don't flash. --Do I repair this by replacing the blinker relay? --Is there just one relay or one for each signal? --Where am I like to find this/these relay(s) on the bike? --Where to get a replacement relay, assuming that's the culprit. Must this be a KLR part? --Other possible cause? thanks! Jeff

turn signal relay failure

I used to have a car thaty did that trick ifr there was a burned out bulb in the circuit, or a problem wire. turn signal relay failure

If the left turn signal works OK, then the relay is OK, because it serves for both right and left sides. It's likely that one of the bulbs on the right side has failed. Here's a wiring diagram for an A9: http://bit.ly/Jlzo3b , or if you prefer the long version, http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.comicsbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Kawasaki-KLR650-color-wiring-diagram.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.comicsbeat.com/2011/07/22/the-watchtower-comic-con-do-it-yourself-edition/kawasaki-klr650-color-wiring-diagram/&h=2400&w=3000&sz=693&tbnid=Ozn5HLbu-6yOZM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=113&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dklr650%2Bwiring%2Bdiagram%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=klr650+wiring+diagram&docid=bRz62MfRAStQPM&sa=X&ei=wvidT4asOpGQ8wSn2bCnDw&ved=0CDYQ9QEwAA&dur=739 The relay is under the tank towards the right hand side. I don't know about the connector arrangement, but it's possible that you could take it to your local parts store and find a workable substitute. Maybe....... turn signal relay failure

Dear Micheal, Thanks for your guidance. If there's only one relay serving both sides, this is very weird, since, the left blinker still flashes normally, while the right blinker just burns steady. It's obviously not a bad bulb or disconnected wire, since the right bulb still lights; it just doesn't flash. Any ideas on this? I've pored over the wiring diagram, and find myself reeling from the complexity! I'll see if I can find a replacement relay somewhere, and try swapping that out. Best thanks, Jeff
