Hi Jeff, I bought a 1991 KLR in 2005 and the suspension was pretty shot. I bought a used military cast-off shock via eBay for $100 and the replacement was a simple bolt in operation. I don't know if these shocks are still around. The dog bones on mine were stock. There should be a few sets of these around. They're pretty easy to change, too. The dog bones that make the bike ride higher also make the suspension stiffer and therefore more suitable for heavier riders(who might be taller, too!) Wild card question: Is this even worth doing on an aging bike for which I only paid only $1k? Sorry for all the questions, but grateful for guidance! Thanks, Jeff
