Listers, I think it was on this forum that someone made a comment wondering if a KLR would run on Seafoam. So today while I was working on my KLR I decided I'd check it out and see. I drained the carb on my KLR and using a small funnel poured Seafoam into the carb. I let it sit for about an hour and then tried to start the engine. It wouldn't start. I drained the carb, made sure the petcock was on and it kicked off in about 5 seconds on six month old fuel. So I guess straight Seafoam won't work for fuel in a KLR. Seafoam is roughly a proportional mix of hydraulic fluid, Coleman white gas, and isopropanol. I think the hyrdaulic fluid raises the octane rating of Seafoam too high to ignite.
