what idle speed should the klr be set at?

I am new to the bike and when warm it idles at 1000 rpm maybe 1100. It does not stall or anything but it sounds better when I rev it slightly higher.

That might be a little low, but not bad. Seems like I read 1200 - 1500 is
normal. There is a big thrumbscrew on the right side of the bike on the
carb. Just turn it up a hair.

1200 to 1500 for me. Lower on cold days, warming up.

klx250 oil leak

Hey all
Thecarb is now fine. (SO FAR....LOL)
But, I took it on a 20+- test trip and upon returning found, that the wires for the genurater come out up front near your left toe, VERY VULNERABLE.
Theres a rubber grommett that is a MOLDED PART or the wire harness to the stator, ($300+) that must have been torn lose a little, and the bike SPITTS oil out rhere.
I have not seen any repair kits, and being the bike has only 55+- miles on it and I bought it to resell, to get a DR400.
(NO, I will not be getting rid of My KLR unless to replace with a "newer" one)
Being in such nice condition I do not WANT to just apoxy etc, and have look crappy. (for resale)
Anyone ever delt with this issue?

One consideration for a minimum idle speed might be the point where your charging system is able to maintain voltage on your battery.
If you set it too low the battery discharges while you're idling for longer periods. Just keep it at a speed where your battery voltage is 12.8V or higher.
