Beware Geico. I'm a lawyer in Cal, and recently rep'd a rider who'd hit a cage which illegally turned left in front of him. Cager had Geico. The police report put the cager 100% at fault, after hearing his story. My client's two friends agreed. A perfect stranger saw the whole thing and gave my client his card. He then gave me a declaration under penalty of perjury that put the cager 100% at fault. The stranger told me he'd already told Geico the same thing, and their interviewer had tried to get him to change his story. He had Geico too, and was considering switching. Geico refused to honor our claim, citing their insured's story to the cop, whose report had discussed and dismissed it as inconsistent with the evidence. This must be why Geico's rates are so low, if indeed they are: they're evidently prepared to screw claimants, including their own insureds, to avoid paying claims. Fortunately my guy's injuries were minor enough, and his property damage too, to be recoverable in small claims court. My fee was a non-running 2002 Yamaha TT225, which shows you why I'm such a wealthy sonofabitch. -JWF
