<><><><><> <><><><><> J#3, Maybe try a local Harley or V-Twin shop. The parts counter might have them on hand and the techs most probably do. Last week I was looking at some jets at our local dealer with one of the dyno techs. He has a couple of compartmentalized plastic boxes full of jets. He'd probably send someone he didn't know to the parts counter to see if they had one. For someone he knows it would probably be a couple of bucks. After all, that is his living. : ) Best, Jeff Saline ABC # 4412 South Dakota Airmarshal Airheads Beemer Club www.airheads.org The Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 75 R90/6, 03 KLR650 . . ____________________________________________________________ 57 Year Old Looks 27 Local Woman Reveals Wrinkle Secret That Has Doctors Angry. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4f2857727f7f15e8af3st06vuc

Fred, Thanks for the 150 offer but I need 152. I opened up the air box and put on a Jardine RT4 pipe. I already moved up to 150 and drilled the slide and drilled out the cap and adjusted the low end mixture screw out. Spark Plug still looks too clean/lean. I guess I could do the 20 cent washer mod but then I would have to pull out the carb instead of just turning it. J#3

Jeff...what do you mean by " drilled out the cap" ???? I've never heard of that mod ????? And I thought the .02 cent washer mod was done at the same time you drill out the slide !!!! <><><><><> <><><><><> J#3, Have you tried wide open throttle with the 150 main jet and then activating the enricher too? That will add a little more fuel. You'll know immediately if more fuel is appropriate for you new set up. With the CV carb jetting you should work Main Jet first, Needle Jet and Needle position second and Pilot Jet and idle mixture screw setting third. Then recheck all and tweak as needed starting at the main first and working back to idle. The 22 cent mod is for the needle position and that affects about 1/4 to 3/4 throttle use. But do the main jet first with wide open throttle mixture before messing with the needle position. I didn't know Harley didn't carry a 152 jet. I was at the local Harley shop twice today as I got a call from the Parts Department asking for some info/help and also was asked by the Service Department Shop Foreman for some machining assistance on a special project. I easily could have checked with both departments about possible options. I'm gonna try to remember to check with them next time I'm in there. the mixture idle screw -- drilling out the cap ain't especially "risky" unless you are a klutz with power tools. you just need to brear thru the this metal of the plug... then put a wood or machine screw into the cap and pull it out. some have reported that the screw has been set almost entirely closed... and on occasion it is completely closed. shimming the carb needle is usually the cure for the surge around 3,500 to 4,000 or so RPM. I WANT RICHER AT MED/HIGH RPM

According to www.bargerharley-davidson.com in Canoga Park, CA, they don't carry anything near that small (152) main jet. This is a pure Harley dealer though. J#3

Drill the cap.. EPA cap over the "pilot circuit screw" bottom of carb closest to the cylinder. I used a small drill, then started a small sheet metal screw into the hole, and used pliers to pluck it out, then since carb was already turned, turned the screw in to a "soft" seat and backed it out 1 and 3/4 turns. (thats close enough most times) Hitting the sweet spot involves burning fingers without proper 90 degree screwdriver like tool, but warmed up using a handmade tool, I turned screw in till it ran crappy, then tracking rotation backed it out till it idled crappy... then turned it back in HALF way. Typically about 1 and 3/4 turns from a soft seat is pretty, well close enough for a KLR. :-) Will make cold starts ALOT easier.... Set pretty lean for emissions. Dooden A15 Green Ape

DOH !!!! For some reason I thought he was talking about the Black plastic cap over the diaphram !!!! that would really make it run like sh*t !!!!! Didn't think about the cap over the pilot screw....I've got the one with the knurled end and love it. Mike Huber Carlsbad, NM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com From: dooden@...
