Recently bumped into a KLRista who did his doohickey when his
bike was new. HE ACCIDENTALLY DIDN'T PUT ANY SPRING ON IT.
25,000 miles later he took apart and figured it out and
did it right.
So, if you don't ride your bike that hard, the balancer
chain won't wear much anyways.
My doohickey side blew and at 35K and it was done right.
I think many of the doohickey side blow ups are just caused
by heavy counterweights wearing out bearings.

air filter service question

Greetings,
I read previous messages that indicated it is ok to clean my stock air filter with Dawn and warm water. Once the filer is clean and dry, would there be a problem with oiling the stock foam filter with No-Toil oil, then servicing the filter hereafter with No-Toil products? I don't believe there would be a problem, but I wanted to make sure there is nothing in the No-Toil product that would damage the stock foam filters. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I have used NoToil products on the KHI stock filter without problem.
Although, I think it was new and not previously used--I would not anticipate any problems. Be sure you use the filter grease to get a good seal against the air box...and use the left over filter cleaning soap/water to clean the interior of the airbox.
I have also used it on new Honda OEM filters without problem; you will notice the Honda treatment system is also manufactured by NoToil, as is the KHI treatment systems. (I have bought all three.)
What I have found, the NoToil filter are not as robust as the OEM; failing along the glued seams long before the filter foam deteriorates..

No toil is ok although I dont like it. Their easy clean oil idea has proven more often that not to be a now you need to clean the oil crud out of the carb idea. I like Bel Ray.
Do not use K&N. K&N are great filters and their oil works well but they are cloth filters. Notoil, bel ray... are for foam filters and that is what you need.
