<><><><><><> J#3, I've done a few doos and a few torsion springs too. The first doos that came out didn't have the groove in them. I think all EagleMike doos now have a groove. If you have to put a groove in one it's pretty easy with a triangular file. It doesn't have to be particularly deep or long but it does need to be in the correct place. A little fitting when you are doing the work will identify the correct area. Maybe takes 5 minutes to add a groove. Drilling the hole is pretty easy. Use a fast drill speed and if a drill press is available use it. I usually take a 1/8" drill bit after drilling the hole(s) and using it in my fingers chamfer the edges of the holes. Some folks drill two holes when they are doing the installation. One at about 5 or 5:30 and another around 7 or so. If the adjustment ever gets to where the spring needs a little more tension the second hole will already be in place and it's a simple process to reindex the spring. I have heard of one or two torsion springs being broken. I never heard of a reason why they broke. I have one in my bike and doubt I'll ever have to do anything more with that system.
