I was tired of sore butt. Two people makes it much easier. 1)So, I took off my seat. 2)Removed the staples with a flat head screwdriver and needle nose pliers. 3)Cut out a Vish groove in the existing foam for the front 12" The V didn't come to a point at the bottom though and went to the top edges of the seat. 4)Cut a similar piece out of some memory foam my buddy had but 2 inches taller. The memory foam was 50% softer. 5)Placed the memory foam in the Vish groove. 6)Cut a 1.25 inch thick piece of memory foam and put it over the top rear half of my seat(just on the top area). Didn't remove any of the stock rear half foam. 7)Started stapling with a staple gun the original/same seat cover back on. 8)Fixed a cut in the bottom edge of the seat(where the seat pan is kind of sharp on the bottom edge) with some vinyl and some rubber cement; from the inside. 9)Hammered the staples all the way in. 10)Put seat back on. Feels great so far but haven't gone for a long ride yet. J#3

Thanks, Their wheels look very nice, but out of my budget. I used their online shopping tool and had a $650 wheel! I also have heard great things about Woody's Wheel Works on ADVrider.com. He quoted me about $360 for lacing an Excel rim with new heavy duty stainless spokes. Of course that price doesn't include a new hub... http://www.woodyswheelworks.com/ I think I'll stick with my spokes and lace it myself, I will have around $50 into it...including shipping. Here is a photo of my old spokes: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9992563@N08/6190286532/ Here is a photo of the spokes that came with the $40 rim: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9992563@N08/6190286530/ Nice nipples, eh? ________________________________ From: JWF To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 4:09 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Spoke question. Hey David- If you're still looking, there's these people for SS spokes. I haven't dealt with them other than to email a question and get a prompt, polite but not helpful answer about what shade of yellow the steel nipples are. The least expensive spokes for KLRs are $70 per wheel, with your choice of alloy nipples or the "yellow zinc plated steel" ones. Shipping seems to be free. Extra bucks for oversize spokes, colored spokes, etc. And they have trick looking hubs, and full wheel assemblies. If you buy anything, let us know how it goes. -JWF Rad Manufacturing: http://www.radmfg.com/category-s/10473.htm?searching=Y&sort=1&cat=10473&show=10&page=1
