odometer

Post by kb7tgr » Tue Sep 27, 2011 4:46 am

My speedometer still works but the trip meter and the odometer quit. I have an 06 650. I took the speedo apart today and found that there is a gear in there that is bad. Does anyone have a speedo around they would sell. I do not need the whole thing (tach temp gauge etc) I of course would take a complete unit but if some one has a gauge set that the rest is broken or something I could use just the speedo head. Actually if you have a speedo that is broken and the gear I need is good that would work too. (Need the trip meter for a gas gauge) any help would be appreciated thanx jim WY.

sparkplug resistor (was no spark)

So, what's the purpose of the resistor in the spark plug cap, and is there any way to do away with it?

It is there to suppress the spark from producing radio frequency interference. If it is removed the only thing that will happen is if you use a radio you may get an annoying whine sound in the audio that increases with RPM. Even if you don't use a radio the people driving nearby will so it can be safely done without but it is best to have it according to the FCC.
