chain repair thought??

Post by mark ward » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:28 pm

Hey all In the middle of replacing My chain, and had a thaught, tell me why this would be a bad idea if it is. (to get 100 miles home, etc.) While I hear of many carring a spare master link, IF you do not have one, but have the (motion pro etc.) chain tool, just press out the bad link or two, and use the old pin to reconnect the chain. (move in wheel a little etc.) I figure I would ask, now, and be ready with a little wisdom. A small tool bag (Mac Gyver style) and alot of wisdom go a long way. Mark (W. Mich.) chain repair thought??

Depends on how bad the chain is and whether you really would want to do the repairs roadside if the chain fails. Not to mention the damage to you and the bike that throwing a chain might cause! Alan Henderson A13 Iowa

I ordered a new pretty one from Fred. Lord knows my girl is starting to show her age and needs all the help she can get. Except for the do-hickey, brake lines and rear cylinder guard , she is absolutly original. '06 Red -- Charlie
