I'd like to know where to buy a fender bag for my KLR. I seen one the
other day with a platform that strapped on the fender, and the bag
attached with velcro, but anything will do so I can store my manual
and other small things.

I have just what you are looking for. The MSR Fender Pak holds tools and folds with several straps. It is attached to the fender with a nylon base that is held on with Velcro plus a big nylon strap and buckle. If you would like to see a picture of it, contact me off list.

MSR, Cycoactive, Moose all make great fender bags. You need to be
careful with your installation since the area on the KLR650 front
fender where these are normally mounted has restricted clearance
because of the front fairing. You will have to mount the bag farther
forward on the fender.

Hi Folks
Just got me a new front fender bag after losing my other one, the
instructions suggest I take a sharp knife and cut four groves out of the
fender, so as to keep the bag clasp's from moving and allowing the bag
to slip forward and off the bike.
I was just thinking, .... "Me, a sharp knife, and a hardened fender"
equal missing bit's of my hands.
Anyone have any other suggestions, that may be easier, and some what
safer ?????
TIA

How about... "You, a really clean fender, and some Velcro?"
Might equal a reasonably secure setup. Though you may have to sew
the velcro to the bottom of the bag.

How about using a Dremel tool to make the groves. After which, you can
put on the polishing wheel and do your nails

.
Have fun & ride safe.

i drilled small holes in my fender near the hooks, then fed zip ties through
the gap in the hook and the strap, through the holes. works great.

All,
I received a fender bag for Fathers Day, mounted it,stuffed two tubes in and went for a ride. Dry and windy here near Waco. No problem with the wind but the fender flexes constantly even on blacktop. I'm concerned about the plastic fatiguing and snapping off somewhere in the sticks. Anybody used one for 10k miles or so?

Steve-
I have well over 10K, on mine; albeit I only put one tube in it. It does flex some; I don't see any fatigue in the plastic. shrug. I believe I minimized flex by mounting it as far aft as I could = so it would not touch the cowl when the handlebars are turned.
This is the 2d bag on one bike. Previously, I had a fender bag; it came up 'missing' while I was making a parish call at the hospital. I suspect it walked away rather than falling off. I was glad I had removed my tank bag and GPS before going inside.
After the bag came up missing, I bought a new one. The other item I did, I notched/cut/filed the fender so the metal clips would not move on the fender (not that they ever did). I doubt that the notching will affect the 'walking-off' factor any.
Hope to see you in Sep.
