t-mod without the t

On the KLR, the t mod makes sense to me. I do have a puzzle regarding another Kawasaki. Recently, a customer came in with a poorly running ZZR1200.(Stored for months, gummed up carbs,etc...) The mechanic completely disassembled the carbs and cleaned everything perfectly. The valves were in spec. and it got new plugs, it's air filter (K&N) cleaned and the carbs balanced with a $600 balancer. Back together, it still ran like crap. I happened to walk in front of the bike and spotted the two air intakes with little carb vent tubes protruding out of each. (flashlight) Wasps had filled both vent tubes with dirt! We cleaned them thoroughly and the bike ran fine. Puzzle: Both vent tubes connect with a T-like fitting to a single line back to a reverse T-fitting on the bank of 4 carbs. Near the front, they share a common filter that's nothing more than some wire screen in a round housing. Since the vents are exposed and facing directly forward, I can't help but wonder what happens to water when it's ridden in the rain? There's no visible "trap" for liquids other than the wire screen filter. eddie

plugs that vent, the mod just routes another tube up high so the carb can still be vented. That simple.

the air adjustment screw you have a big effect on fine tuning, (ECT) I am waiting to see How well it performs Now and as the filter gets dirty.??? (like when the Air filter gets dirty.) as for splattering (oily) road & rain water it looks good,

would get trapped in the filter, and being a bigger chamber the air passing threw it would also dry it back out.

a good wash could introduce water to the tube and thus into the carb.
