kenda k784?
I just started hearing about the new DS tire from Kenda, the K784 Big Block. From the pic on their website, it looks like TKC80 or maybe a D606. Has anybody tried one? How does it work? Most important, how much does it cost?
I doubt we will able to buy them for 35 bucks, but OTOH, a guy should not have to spend $160 to get a decent tire.

Their sales dept told me about that tire about a year and a half ago, said it was "coming soon". Glad to see it has come 'round. It looks like it would be just what I'm looking for.
If you need something between the 270 and the 761, that looks to be your tire. I love my 761s, and I'd like to have better off-road-ability... but a 270 is just not suited to high-speed freeways.
This tire might be my answer.

Quick search of the 130/80/17 should be able to get for about $80 but the
size is backordered.

There's a fellow on the Versys site who builds, then rides, AWESOME dirt bikes based on the Versys or Ninja 650, and on his latest he's using Kenda "Big Blocks". Here's a link to page 44 on his build with pics of the tire installed. If you can, read the whole thread.

Red flag here:
* Rubber compound designed specifically for tread longevity
Hard rubber = low traction on road.
IMHO, of course.

If it's the same compound used on the 761, It does quite welln (I hope it is).
Have to be a little conservative in the rain, but otherwise I can drag pegs without issue. I can get about 10 kilomiles out of a rear.

However low it is, it will be more than enough for my needs. Even the much-despised K270 has always given me enough traction on the street.

I always try to make sure my buddy Craig is around when I have to change a tire. If I just fumble the tire iron a little bit, or even if I don't, he jumps right in to give a hand, and pretty soon he's doing all the work. He can't help himself; it's his nature. I can just find a lawn chair and fire up a Rocky Patel.
