rivet link

Post by Ian » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:08 pm

Posted a picture under an album named rivet link (interestingly enough). This was my first time doing this so want to be sure I got it right. I went a little at a time, removing the tool and checking my work as I went. I ended up squashing each rivet three times, not overdoing it or trying to go too far at once. Think I went far enough or do I need to squash these things some more? ian

685, here we come!

Since its so long between my posts, I'll quickly update: '06 KLR650, lost oil, seized, and aluminum damaged the exhaust valve seats. While saving up money I've been debating between 1. Buy a new bike; 2. Buy a replacement engine; 3. Buying the basic 685 kit and having my valves done locally; or 4. Buying the 685 and having bigger valves installed and head ported. Because work has been extremely slow, #1 is out for now, and so is #4. #2 would leave me with an engine from an unknown source, could be good, could be bad, and I could have #4 cheaper. So I went with #3. My cylinder was shipped out to M-Tech a couple days ago and my old boss is doing my valves. He's the only one in town with a good reputation that I trust. Soon I'll be getting a package with my cylinder, 685 kit, gaskets and valve seals. Now to get busy getting the rest of the bike ready! Jim
