My review of the 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere is in this month's AMA magazine. I just got my copy in the mail! They should be posting a video review soon as well. da Vermonster (moto-journalism is kinda like music - pay is pathetic but the work is fun!)

If my girlfriend wouldn't shoot me with my own gun for selling my GL1800 to buy it, I'd have a Super Tenere! eddie 09'KLR 08'GL1800 Previously: Two Transalp 600s and a DL1000

I would like to try it first but don't like the fact that ABS cannot be turned off

Yep, that's a disappointment to me as well and got me into a little trouble at one point on the ride... Trying to do a 180 on a dirt road is tricky when you can't lock the back wheel and when you forgot that the traction control is on, meaning you can't power slide out either... da Vermonster (it's still a VERY nice bike - but a KLR it ain't)

Perhaps it can't be turned off as an OEM product. IF it is electrical, and it has a CB or fuse, it can be turned off. I would expect that the ABS is a separately protected circuit. Any electrical system can be modified or defeated by adding an aftermarket switch. revmaaatin.

Am I the only one that thinks modifying ABS features is a bad idea?  Who knows WTF it's really doing in there?
