what's the best approach for add'l hp on a klr650 without rejetting?

What's the best approach for add'l HP on a KLR650 without rejetting? K&N airfilter? Muffler replacement? If so, what kind? I live in the midwest so airflow affecting carburator at altitude is not a big concern.
