I used 14ga. wire and a relay for my Stebel Nautilus. -Jeff Khoury From: "Kevin Powers" To: "Don Montgomery" Cc: "KLR650@yahoogroup" DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, October 25, 2010 6:48:00 AM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Can horn switch handle 5 amp horn? Your best bet is to wire the horn using a relay. The exisiting horn switch will then only use a litlle juice (technical term) to trigger the relay and the horn can draw a lot of juice directly from the battery for full sound. Check out http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Horn_Kits/horn_kits.html for kits, or roll your own. -- Kevin Powers White Bear Lake, MN On Mon, Oct 25, 2010 at 7:18 AM, Don Montgomery wrote: Hi all, Maybe someone has had the horn button apart and a look at how robust the contacts in the horn switch are. I would like to wire one Fiam low tone horn in place of the stock one. The stock is marked as 3 A and when installing two Fiams it is recommended to fuse for 10A (as well as use a relay) No current draw noted on the Fiam. Best regards, Don M
