Deeeeeaaaaaaaaammmmmmmm! Between that and the scars on the helmet, I gotta ask how you fared in the incident. I used to think I was a badass for having bent the top frame tube on my old KLR, but snapping it at the bottom...Hats off to you bro!
You gotta link me up if'n you do a ride report on the KOTW. And make sure my wife doesn't see the pics of your bike/helmet, or I'll never get a hall pass to partcipate.
Sooo did you finish ahead of the F800GS?

Sure did, he DNF'd on Day 1... he broke radiator in tipover in rocks.
Lots of DNFs, at least 2 people broke ribs, other various injuries and equipment failures...
There is a pic of me I need to snag somewhere, at the start on Day4 , I'm leaning on the back of a pickup truck, and in the bed are three bikes:
F 800 GS
KTM 690 Enduro
KTM 552 Rallye bike.
Meanwhile, the KLR putted to the finish line, I think I finished in 12th or 13th place out of 35 entries.
Days 2,3,4 results:
http://ca-stu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Kings-Of-The-West-2010/13794330_KdbYh#1043440037_3JvKF-X2-LB
Still tallying Day 1, but I was way late on Day 1, probably about 22nd or 23rd...
Anyway, I feel like I got in a car crash, sore all over, epic bruises, knee and hip stretched from bending the wrong way, but nothing broken.
I went to the doc, he says 3 weeks and I'll be good as new.
I have the strength of ten men.
Nine dead and one dyin'.

Thanks
CA Stu A13
PS I need to come up with a frame so I can swap over all the components to hit LA-Barstow-Vegas next month...

You could get that welded, Stu, it that's all that is damaged. It broke at welds, and with some internal support, it would be stronger than new with a good set of new welds. Don't abandon that without talking to a good weld shop. I don't think you would need to remove much equipment at all.

Thanks for the suggestion, but my frame is dented and the footpeg mounts are stripped and splayed, think I'll be better off with a clean frame.

Is this the same bike that caught fire? Wonder if these events are related? Think this bike is cursed? I say good riddance.

What's the problem? A little duct tape would take care of that!!!
