Hey all
A freinds 98 shadow, has a leak. the braket that holds down the front (1 bolt)
has a leak under it where it cannot be seen or gotten to directly.
(weld seam cracked?? The last owner did not use the rubber spacer.)
IF! I remember right there was a talk last year, about a liquid
coating/treatment, to put inside to seal a pinhole.

Mark,
If I was fixing a leak at a bracket I'd probably weld it as the
flex/stress in that area might disturb any other repairs.
I've used POR-15 fuel tank sealer kits to take care of the inside of
tanks. It works wonderfully in my experience.
I've never personally used Kream sealer but have seen issues with it when
the prep wasn't just perfect. I also think it looks goofy compared to a
professionally done seal job or POR-15.
I've also used JB Weld or KWIK to fix a leak in a tank. That was a pin
hole from rust, not a broken seam.
I'm gonna guess the reason the leak cannot be seen or gotten to directly
is because the tank is still installed on the bike. : )

I've welded one of Tumu's KLR650 tanks that had a leak under the
bracket. I put a bead around the entire bracket to seal it.

overcharges battery

Glass/AGM batteries are available online for good prices. Shipping is a non-issue since there are no liquid acid issues.
Sounds like an easier fix would be just to rig some little device to soak up the overcharging...my lights do this. Run a 65w/75w instead of 55/65. headlight bulb.
A cigarette lighter socket could be used for charging cellphone, heated vest, running GPS etc.
