Hey all Garmin Maps??: I just got My 3rd Garmin GPS (60csx) And from what I understand I can't use the city maps in both of MY Garmins that need City installed if you want city streets ect., some kind of "lock". I understand not sharing, But like music and Vidios BY LAW, you are aloud to make copies for "your own use". Is it the same for the city nav maps? OR am I, S.O.L.?? Paths Crossed While riding From Mi. across canada to Maine down to Boston over to Syracuse, to Pa. And then Home to West Mich. In a constuction rd. stop way out in the country, I came across Dave (?), From Maine. (I don't think I was in Maine YET) ALSO with This sight. I was nice to Cross paths so far from home with a (web) Friend. Only talked a few seconds and traffic moved on. If you have not been to Bar Harbor Maine, you MUST, and MUST go up Cadilac mountain. one minute it looks like TN. rolling hills (mountains) and a very large lake, and in 2 minutes you are over looking the Bar Harbor, The homes, ships, steples, and large wave crashing against the LARGE rocks. The trips across the upper states (highway 2) are also a GREAT ride. I have been west to Estes Park CO. (the rockies,) ridden several times in the south. (TN., NC,SC. GA, etc.) and still very much enjoyed my ride and the sights in the North east, and hope to return soon and take MORE time. Travle Safe! travel Well! Mark (W. Mi.)

Attachments :Garmin has a somewhat unusual software license.  With one license you can legally load their software on to multiple computers, but only one GPS. 

 

That actually worked out for me quite well.  I have a Garmin 60CX on a RAM mount that I move from bike to bike.  I’ve installed power cables and RAM balls on each bike.  But the Garmin software is legally installed on my home desktop, my primary home notebook and the Toughbook that I tend to carry on longer motorcycle trips.  With a more conventional software license I’d have to buy 3 copies of their software, one for each of the computers.

 

They have a new version out, maybe buy that upgrade and install it onto your “favorite” GPS and use the prior version for your other unit?  I’ve had some bad experiences with outdated Garmin map sets.  So I tend to think of their approximately annual update as a worthwhile investment.  I noted that some of their Nuvi products offer a lifetime license, with free updates for the life of the unit.  That might be worth investigating since GPS hardware is fast becoming a commodity and thus probably not worth regular hardware refresh cycles.

Not sure what "Load Pipes" are but i think this subject has been flogged to death "Already" with me on the other side in not so much being for loud pipes as being against "More Freekin Laws",i agree with most of the posts on strait pipes "IE" cruiser type bikes,"Read Harley's" which are enough to gag a maggot with there noise and a lot of the people that ride em are posers anyway. I have aftermarket pipes on all four of my bikes and they are on there more for tuning though i do admit that they sound better than stock IMO,and i try not to abuse the use of them but i live in a small town so It's not a big issue here,i put an aftermarket muff on my KLR because the stock one is soooooo FRUGGLY and the sound,like cats peeing on a hot tin roof or into an empty bucket,i think I'll go and Bark at the moon now!                                                                                 Cheers Stu.   To: dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com; jeff@...
