Part of the joy of having a new motorcycle is the process of making it yours. I now have 700 miles on my new KLR. The first mod was to put a Givi hard case on the carrier for a trunk. I had a Givi lug kit on hand that I had purchased a couple of years ago from Happy Trails for another project. With this kit, it was a simple task to modify the KLR carrier to accept the Givi case. Then came the highway pegs and racks to protect the saddle bags from the hot muffler. Next came a 12 volt power outlet and a Vista Cruise throttle lock. While wiring in the power outlet, I had to take the seat off and realized if I didn't want to have to remove the side racks and side panels every time I wanted to remove the seat, I needed to cut a hole in each side panel. But the best accessory of all is the fishing pole bungeed to the mirror stems. I don't know how much of this is cool and how much is nerdy, but one of the nice things about being 68-years-old is that there isn't much poser left in you any more, and you do what works for you. It has finally cooled down around here enough to make riding enjoyable again. A thank you to the poster who brought up the Adventure Mag and provided a web site connection.
