Jake is selling his KLR in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. Here's his description:
(begin paste)
The symptoms of amebic dysentery are quite mild, with constipation and diarrhea alternating, combined with some intestinal cramping and gas.
(No, wait, wrong paste! I'll try again!)
I am sorry to have to inform you that I plan to sell the KLR, because it is not well behaved, the damn giraffe threw me off and under three weeks ago. I lost some skin, and parts of my legs were a bit blue-ish and painful, but everything is well. Can jump, dance, swim as usual. Only work gives me problem.
I went a bit too fast on a dirt road, and when I had to brake, it slipped on the small stones gravel, and I was under it. I smoothed out the road a bit with my right arm. I do that to help the department of public works.
I figure that since I am pensioned now, two bikes is a bit too much expense too, but the main reason is that this thing is too powerful and too heavy, and I am much too small and to weak to handle all that. The smaller 250 s behave much better, and go fast enough for this country, no super highways, and anyhow I believe that 100 km/hr is quite fast enough for anything on two wheels.
I ll sell at $2500,- which is a steal, after all the farkles i did to it. If anyone on the Forum is interested, to rent a bike here will cost you close to a hundred a day, with all the insurance and all. And I am not selfish at all, I will give another biker the chance to slide over the pebbles here in Costa Rica. Can t keep all the fun to oneself, can one?
The year is 2004 A-18. I have my 2009 Yamahaha XT250, a nice bike, well behaved. a pleasure.
The farkles include the oversized front rotor, the new plastic tank, new monoshock, new chain, new flashers (still have to install them), extra brake light LED. Charging monitor on the dash. Everything is OK, well taken care of. Only the fan is manual. Will include a set of valve shims. Bearings have been changed, the forks have had their oil changed, the steering bearings with plenty grease, the swingarm and stuff with grease too. I believe in grease, and oil, don t like rust.
(end paste)
I rode this bike briefly when I was down there last month, and it rides strong, looks a bit rough. AFAIR, mileage was around 30k miles. At this price, I'd have traded Jake for my own KLR (90,000 miles now) on the spot. Any interest, contact Jake directly at "Jacobus De Bruyn" .
