led 1157 tail bulb question

hey folks, i'm looking at tail bulbs on the autoluminaton web site. do I want the red or a white bulb? since the lens plastic is red does it matter? also, has any one wired led running lights into the blinker housings? easy to do? what kind of bulb would you use? I run my klr to my second home, 140 miles one way, all highway. with a 16t front sprocket I run my klr at 75 all the way. avon tires, tall windshield., progressive springs - it's a nice ride. the problem is I do this at night and I believe that the stock lighting on the klr is woefully deficient. I blew a headlight fuse one night. not good. I had to pull into a drainage ditch on the side of a dark highway and use a flash light to replace the fuse. my guess is that I blew the fuse while switching from high to low. i've gotta do something quick now that the riding season is underway. thanks, mark.

#ygrps-yiv-836086138 p {margin:0;}I would choose red.  More light will be transmitted through the lens.  In a red led, all light emitted is red.  If it's white, the lens filters out all the other wavelengths and only passes the red, and is therefore less efficient. The "Eagle Eye 5" is the one you want.  The most lumens focused toward the rear, just where you need 'em. -Jeff Khoury

Mark i just got a Led 1157 bulb from Schnitzmotorsports.com $19.95,get the red one looks brighter than stock and will last a lot longer to,i would also suggest you upgrade your headlight if you do a lot of night riding the OEM bulbs are not worth a Fiddlers F!*^. I went with a PIAA bulb for the front, they are way more expensive than stock but once you see the difference you wont' go back, and whats your life worth,to be seen and to see, your OEM bulb is 60/55 high/low beam,PIAA claims there bulbs depending on which one you choose 135/125 high/low beam with no more currant draw, now whether you believe all this or not is up to you. All i know is I've got them on everything i own,two trucks, four bikes,"NUFF SAID".                                           A Brighter me, Stu. selling the klr

Cant speak to the rules but let us know where the bike is and if we can help! Also how much and what condition. In fact, the heck with the rules, give us the whole rundown. Maybe one of us will buy it. Many people have posted msgs about their bikes being for sale before. To the best of my knowledge the list commanders have never sent the RAF off to bomb them or anything like that. After all, it does involve a KLR. Aslong as you are not going to talk about oil or tires your fine :-)
