Wow thanks for the imformation on the new 2011 KLR.I just cancelled my
order on my new 2010 KLR. I can wait a while and get the new better version.

Hi, Before asking for your help guys I did a message search but I am still left with a couple questions. When I drop the carb. bowel will the pilot, idle, or starting jet (not sure of the correct name) unscrew? Will it eaasily come out so I can clean it? I run extra strength seafoam thru it several times but still will not idle without choke. When you give it throttle it just dies. It was running fine when I put it up at the end of the season. Taking the carb out of the bike isn't too hard after getting the gas tank out of the way. With the carb out, you can inspect and clean everything with a can of carb cleaner (wear gloves & protect eyes). Putting it back in the bike is harder because of needing to force it in between the rubber boots, fore & aft.

A good procedure when you put a bike up for more than a week is to RUN THE CARB DRY. Do that and you should have very few problems when you bring the bike back into service (except for refilling the carb since the fuel valve on the tank won't release fuel without a vacuum signal from the cranking motor. To over come that I use a shot piece of plastic tubing hooked up the the petcock and suck a vacuum on it to open the valve to fill the float bowl.) Also during layup periods don't forget your battery-trickle charge it to keep the voltage above 12.8 VDC, sulfation starts below that voltage..

Yes Mike. You'll be able to access everything no problem. Just take care as to how each part comes out and maybe do one thing at a time. Compressed air comes in handy if you have it but not required. Find a schematic of the carb before hand. It will make things easier.
