Re: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Clutch Plates ? Years ago, Elden Carl would give advice in Gino Pakluda’s klr newsletter – latter Dual Sport News. He believed you should change the balancer chain around 30k miles. I changed mine about that time as I was in there inspecting the doo anyway. That was when I took regular trips into Mexico so I took preventative measures. Now the consensus is that it’s not necessary unless the chain measures out of spec. I also believe a new cam chain was put in when Vey de la Cruz installed the lower first gear from a 600 into my tranny. You’d think I’d remember for sure; my records are at home and I’m at work. I enjoyed viewing your new sculptures, Ron.

[/quote]Hey Bogdan, at 71,000 miles, are you still running the same balancer chain/ cam chain that came on it? I understand some with high milage replace theirs. You’re right – if I wasn’t so cheap I’d be ridding a Harley CVO Ultra Classic instead of my beat-up anemic klr. Glad someone is aware of Krupnik, a fine honey liquor. FWIW there’s a barley soup by the same name. Last night, however, I drank some Old Grand Dad – cause they named it after me. Put down the krupnik and just replace the friction plates and springs already. Sheesh, 71,000 miles.
