Previous owner of my A16 gave me a set of OEM Friction plates, pn#13088-040 and a EBC pn#DRC65 package of plates and springs. Any input on quality of one vs the other. Stock clutch is working fine at present. Just thought I'd see what the group wisdom was on quality of clutch plates in general or of these plates specifically. Beats another oil thread, right??? 45mph slush past 24 hrs here in beautiful uptown Ketchikan. Thanks to all, Monte

I'm hoping someone has used some of what you are asking about so you get some accurate input. Monty, does the EBC spings claim to be HD? or are they just there to make a complete clutch kit? Fred is probably the best to comment here. shrug. What I found out (from some who have installed the HD spring)was you can put in HD springs, and it will strengthen your left hand. cough, but only if it doen't wear you out first. smile. They then took it all apart and replace the HD with OEM springs. Another down side of the HD springs--difficult to feather the clutch for slow riding situations. Talking to my local kawi shop--dirt bike racers from the late 60's and early 70's, they suggest heavier clutch springs is great for MX, but will wear you out as a Joe-Average rider even on a play bike. They went so far as to suggest, they would not install HD springs unless they really knew the rider, and they would not be angry when they come back and said, "I told you, you would not like it." Others of course, my get along good with the HD springs. shrug. At 55, I am glad to be able to clutch without pain, or, at least clutch with Advil after a long day of play. More pressure is less pleasure. Summary: the OEM springs will work 'best' for most of our applications. From the Kawi shop: if you ever needed a field repair for a short, and therefore weak spring, you could shim the top of each spring with a washer to give a tired spring new, short-term life. So they say. I would think you would want to make sure all springs were of the same length after shimming. Others may comment as I have no evidence other than their hear-say suggestion. revmaaatin.

I use large barrel shaped bicycle grips, and a Vista Cruise Universal "throttle-lock". Ed
