Attachments : Sounds like a big fat lie to me.   No one talks about motorcycles.  It's all about health care, always has been, always will be.    But, since YOU brought the infamous off-topic motorcycle into this thread, I had a bike related question.   I love my KLR650.  Like, really, really love it.   It is my third KLR650.  I previously had a 1998 (that ugly white with bright blue trim, yet beautiful machine), then a 2007 (a quite handsome gray/black - which I traded on a cruiser like an idiot), and my current Ebony 2009 KLR (my FAVORITE - did I mention I love it?)   I mainly ride on road, and on dirt roads, with the occasional trail.  That said, my 2009 is my best KLR yet.  I guess if I were more of an "off road" guy, then I'd perhaps change that perspective.  The county I live in has a vast amount of dirt roads, and "no winter maintenance" roads, and some paved roads.  But, being the current situation, it is a KLR-ready county.   Now, to the question:  I was looking for a "wife bike".   But, I honestly am not impressed with the KLR250.  Personal preference, I know.  I think it lacks something, even if I am not sure what.    But, to the wife......   She's 5 foot, and even if she is ready for the KLR650, *I* am not ready for my new (as of 08/01/09) bride to get on a bike that tall/large.  Call me sexist, racist, misogynistic, etc., or whatever; she needs a smaller bike.    So, I was looking at the Yamaha XT 250 (the newer version).  I once had an older XT250 myself, a 1980 model.  If it'll haul my fat tuchas around, which it did just fine, it'd haul her small one around just fine.  I'll be honest - I was looking at the 2008 XT250 for me at one time, - thought about having a pair, one for ne and one for her - to have along with my cruiser, but I decided that I NEEDED another KLR650, and just one bike instead of two.  I can only ride ONE at a time.  But, WE can ride two at a time.  Either way, we don't need three......   So, other than the obvious pro-Kawasaki bias of this list, can anyone tell me anything good, bad, ugly, or etc., about the newer style (2008-2010) Yamaha XT250s?   Thanks in advance. Can you find an old DR350? It's getting hard but they're around. It's particularly tricky to find one with electric start (-SE model). But I think they're the best, KLR-like compromise in a smaller bike. The XT225 (Serow) has its fans, too... Thor

The XT-250 is a good bike. The Kawasaki Super Sherpa is better. There’s a new 2009 on ebay, it’s in western PA. Buy it Now price is $3861.

The DR350SE is a bit like the Kenda K270, looked down upon by many, but one of motorcycling's best-kept secrets. I wish people (myself included) would quit recommending them. It can only drive the price up, or use up the supply altogether.

I think your new bride is affecting your memory. (Thats good) White bikes ended in 96. Could be wrong. shrug. I have a 'teal' 250, dtd 1997 I have a 'teal' 650, dtd 1998. I got my bride in 92, she STILL affects my memory (like the example above). smile. revmaaatin. love is blind. marriage is an eye opener.
