I'm sure they're fun bikes and sure have gained in popularity but, I'll take simplicity in the way of the KLR and my other ride a 92 BMW R100GS.  Between the two bikes there isn't much dual sport I can't do.  Within my comfort level anyway.  Both bikes are actually fun to work on and no problems finding parts.  I can do most anything required to keep them going.  Recently updating the BMW to be almost bulletproof.  Kind of like the KLR which took a lot less $.  Would I like to give the KTM a go?  Sure, but getting older has the benefit of becoming wiser.
