Agreed, nice driving in the white vehicle.  Their day could have ended a lot worse without that quick reaction.However, what's up with everyone else stopping in a line abreast across the entire freeway (and in the emergency lane!)? I wondered about all that, too, and tested my 2007 Prius. It has no key, just a "Smart Key" (a fob with RFID chip) and a push button. When the wheels are turning, pressing and holding the main Power button will turn off the engine after 3 seconds (264 ft. at 60mph). At that point you lose the power assist for brakes and steering, but they still function. Pressing and holding the shift lever in the N (Neutral) position for about 1.5 seconds will put the car in neutral. This also causes the gasoline engine to go to idle, even if you hold your foot to the floor. It's a different world with these computer cars. Better in some ways (50+ mpg, traction control, skid control) and worse in other ways. Regards, Chris Jeff Saline wrote:
