When I was in the military (and dirt poor) my poison was Schaeffer. I couldn't jump right in to drinking it, so I would buy a couple of decent beers as a primer, then move to Schaeffer at $2.00/6-pack.

My hipster neighbors here in Seattle are constantly loading up our
recycling can with Pabst empties. My grandfather went through Pabst like
crazy, 30 years before it was "hip." Clearly a man ahead of his time.
