nklr now lowbrow beer
When I started flying C-130 Hercs in the RCAF, I could HARDLY wait for my first flight to Germany to try their 'fabled' brews!
Got there, arrived at the "Fliegerhoff" (flyers' hotel - a barracks converted into a bit 'more' for us) at our base in Lahr, and put a 10 pfennig (probably about .02$ - THAT should have been my first clue...!) piece into the beer machine, and out popped an ice-cold 'Link Export' beer.
I opened it and got about half of it down in my first gulp, BEFORE I tasted it. IT WAS AWFUL so I poured it out and had something else!
Over the years I wondered if it had just been me, so a couple of years later I stuck another 10 pfennigs in, got another, took a sip... and promptly poured it down the drain.
If you ever have a chance to try 'Link Export', DON'T!!!
Cheers,
Ed who-loves-Guinness!!!
