I'm looking for a locking hard case to mount on the luggage of my 07 klr650. I like the size of the Pelican 1520 case, but I don't want the look or hassle of padlocks. I want a flat top that can be used as a luggage rack for items that woun't fit inside.

You might want to look at the Pelican case-based Caribou system.  The locks are flush mounted and waterproof.

See http://www.cariboucases.com .  I have about 30K miles on this system on my KLR and found it just about indestructible.

I plan to drive wood corks 8" into the ends of the handle bars, melt the lead in a small frying pan, lay the bike on its side, and pour the molten lead in. Any better methods/ suggestions before I get started?   Craig Kahler <><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><><><>   Craig,   Maybe consider using lead shot.  I think the solid lead won't dampen vibrations as well as shot.   Best, Jeff Saline ABC # 4412  South Dakota Airmarshal Airheads Beemer Club www.airheads.org The Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 75 R90/6, 03 KLR650, 79 R100RT   .         ____________________________________________________________ Water Heater Some like it hot.
