Hello Mark,
Welcome to the lovely, diversified world of DSN.
Unless I am mistaken, your first post?
Usually, this is
A place of civil discourse--where you get one warning and then you get a time out. shrug.
Yes,
It is a bit distracting at times: nobody forces anyone to read or participate. That would be 'free-will' but I would have to give you a (presumably religious) discourse on John Wesley vs. Calvin with reguard to 'pre-destination' theology. yawn. The only destination I have with a KLR is that it will bring me back home. Every other place I go is the pre-destination. It is the only bike I have owned that takes 3 weeks to get home on.
Here at DSN, you find:
The glorious, religious and not-so religious, bike riding, not-so-bike riding, often/no-so-often oil changing, dino/synthetic crowd, the gun toting, anti-gun, greenies and -not-so-greenie KLR family. The political and the pathetic (sometimes at the same time) of all I would consider friends--folks that I would welcome into my home--because I have heard their voice for months and some even years; knowing they have a life beyond a beloved chunk of iron that will kill you in a heartbeat if you glance away for a moment. Here you find lurkers and lunkers, motorheads and knuckleheads, (mostly) all friends in spite of their differences.
So, tell us a KLR story. Your KLR story;
"There I was--trying to decide: 87 or 89 octane."
HINT: 89 octane in South Dakota contains Ethanol; = bad KLR juju at emps above 90F.
Tell us how you use your KLR to get away.
Tell us about how many NooB KLR riders you have helped, the tec day you hosted/particiapted. That sort of stuff.
Tell us, entertain us--
For those of us that have snow drifts higher than the garage door, and snow blowers that won't start.
Temps below -30F last week and wind chills at -40C;
Do it man--
For us that will not likely ride anything other than a 4x4 cage and snow shovel for the next 60-90 days.
Regale us with your knowledge and exploits
The question you did not ask--why does the list drift "off topic"?
The list drifts NKLR becuase we can't ride right now.
and, while you are thinking up a witty reply. smile.
Reach over there where it says Caps Lock, and push that button once.
Someone is going to think you are running for president.
YeeHaaa.
On the other hand, it is interesting to see that this list has such a hold on you that you read it in spite of its useful KLR content. It has the same effect on most of us as well.
Then again, all this 'rant'could be the annual 15 Jan Troll.
Please excuse any spelling errors--my sick computer will not allow spellchick right now--but my NKLR friends at DSN are offering solutions--as long as it is allowed
