I would like to know what the thickness is; I understand that .020 is about right for the shim.. What say you...Anyone, Beuller..? Top-end I don't really care about because the geometry of the bike is not really suited to going much faster than it does stock. -Jeff Khoury ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Reverend" To: "DSN KLR650" ups.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 29, 2009 3:14:53 PM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: RE: [DSN_KLR650] i need help pls Simple answer - stock, with the "tweety" removed. No rejetting or expensive parts, and the weight savings doesn't matter much in a weak bike like the KLR. -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogro ups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogro ups.com] On Behalf Of ahmad may i ask what is the best exhaust system for klr 650 model 2010,thanks alot![]()

i need help pls
Hi Thomas, the shims I used were brass. I bought a dozen at a bolt supply shop and found them to be between .007" and .009". If I remember properly I used a .008" and a .009" together. I noticed the largest difference going from stock to the .009", drilling the slide and adjusting the air screw, this by the seat of the pants seemed to give a bit more power down low and definitely got rid of the popping on overrun. I also seemed to make throttle response at low rpm in 1st on tight trails with stock gearing a bit more abrupt. I ran this for a year, last year I added the 2nd washer and a high flow foam filter I can't honsetly say it made any difference that I noticed, although there was a winter between the changes so there was no side by side comparison. None of the changes had any noticeable effect on gas consumption.......have a great day.....Greg
