Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Oregon ATV card/law
*** Warning, I may be completely wrong. It's happened before, and it will happen again. *** If I read the law correctly, you gotta have it if you can ride on public lands. It's a stepped program with people under 30 needing one Jan 1 2010. Under 40 in 2011, etc. To ride my KLR offroad, I have to have an ORV sticker on it. Same with my Bronco. The screwy thing is, only class 1 (3&4wheelers) and class 3 (two wheelers) are required to take this. Class 2 (4x4, sandrail, car/truck, etc) are exempt, but you gotta have a license to drive a Class 2. That jack*** that just hit the lotto and got himself a 500hp sand rail doesnt have to take a safety course, but me on my little mule has to take one. Sorry, I'm just ranting and listening to a meeting that I dont want to be in.

That sucks to have to take a ATV course to ride on a dirt road ?
What about people in cars/trucks think they should have to also take the course... Liberals... please do not wind me up with them idiots.
Back home ( Upper Michigan ) the National Forests have all kinds of dirt roads (trails mainly) do not even need a ORV sticker if you have plates, providing a car can also drive on it legally.
Of course need the sticker $16.50 yearly (I think) to ride the designated trials.
I would be hesitant to lane split myself unless I was in a place where cage drivers know about it and accept it.
Nice to be away from the snow for Xmas this year at least, but get forward to riding the 4 wheeler when I fly back, even if its only my driveway and yard plowing that white fluffy crap.
