Just a sleepy, early morning observation. But, how many of us have noticed you can see clear over a Ford Explorer and the like while riding a KLR650 down the road? Ever go by a H2 or H3 and look the driver in the eye? How about sat at a red light next to a chopper dude and been able to read the helmet stickers on top of his head? I love the view from atop the KLR. And how many of us are over 6 feet tall, and really get a higher up view. I am 6'3" . Nice toys. In that, you could be 4' tall and still get the up high view ________________________________ From: Drystal Wren To: Rick McCauley Sent: Fri, October 16, 2009 10:07:00 AM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] KLR-related Rick - I'm not quite that tall but love the "higher up view"...take a look at this 2005KLR shot, attached ________________________________ From: Rick McCauley To: dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Fri, October 16, 2009 10:41:30 AM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] KLR-related I love the view from atop the KLR. I am somewhat tall, but far from lanky. (285 lbs) Instead of the expense of a new shock, you might try a Top Gun spring. They run about $80, and there are 3 sizes for different loads. I am in central IL. (Princeton area) Rick A17 ________________________________ From: Michael Dennis Van Horn To: Rick McCauley Sent: Mon, October 19, 2009 5:10:24 PM Subject: Re: KLR-related Rick... Your post just made me laugh as being up high was one of the things I REALLY like on the KLR. Now if I could just be tall myself... I think there is an old song about that "DREAMING" was it's name. What I find funny about the KLR riders locally is that there are basically two groups... the tall lanky guys... and the short and fat ones. I am in the later without question. I am thinking of adding a new shock to haul my fat butt around... But, that is a spring project I do not want to "change" things when the weather is bad, I ride all year and winter is a challenge (that I enjoy) but I need add no excitement like testing new equipment. Glad you dropped me a note. Be safe and keep riding, what part of the country are you in? Maybe I will run into you sometime? I really like the yahoo KLR groups, I have and continue to learn a lot. Contact my service manager in Ruston, LA, McKinney Honda, Kawasaki. His name is Mika, tell him Mike Hilton sent you to him. Mine was a 2008. I did a 1000 mile oil usage documentation. Kawasaki had the shop bore the cylinder to first size over and replace the piston and rings, first size over. This is an issue that some reps. give you difficulty about. The current miles are 2250. I did the first oil changed at 800 miles. Yesterday after checking the oil, I had to put in of a quart of oil to get it near the top mark in the window. I commute roughly 350 miles a week. The oil weight is 20 50. I live I Colorado and the weather has been really strange. (From 28 degrees to 82 degrees) Engine temp seems to run on the cool side according to the temp gauge. Everything is stock, no leaking oil, and coolant is clean. I did notice a black residue on my fender form the exhaust. Dealership said that was normal. Is this level of oil consumption normal or am I still in the break in phase. Runs great. Criuses around 70-75 just fine. Gets 50 mpg. Ken Colorado [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] No virus found in this incoming message.
