Yes I meant convex as in thicker in the middle as it would apply to a KLR
shim
although the reference was really to automotive lifters. I'm 99.99999999%
positive the KLR shims are ground flat just too lazy to go check.
I get your point about a shim might have gone 'concave'. That is possible.
One other possibility is if the shim was new with a rust inhibitor it would
have fit tighter until the coating dissolved.
And yes I have also seen shims that are slightly off from as marked.
