Ordered a pair of rear panel protector racks for my 09' 650 over the weekend and received them today. (eBay / search KLR650 PMR racks )The fit & finish is top notch and despite a close-in fit, the plastic side panels can still be removed without taking the racks back off. A plus if you haven't switched to a maint. free battery! I have a SW Motech centerstand that came with the grab handle to assist lifting the bike. The left PMR rack has a stand-off spacer built in that bolts to the upper left passenger footpeg mount. I had to shorten the spacer by the thickness of the SW Motech handle and it's spacer (about 3/4 in.). One of the four bolts in the rack kit was way too long to be of use anywhere. I had to modify a 8x1.25hex bolt I already had to make things right. Other than that, the racks should serve well to both protect the side panels a little and more importantly to me, make throwover saddlebags a lot less of a hassle. If anyone would like photos, conatct me offline and I'll take some later. -eddie

I bought those racks for my '08 last year. They are fine if you take them off between trips. You can't tell from the photos but the lower mounts interfere with your passenger's ankles - I don't believe you can carry a passenger with them installed. And I have never tried to remove the side covers with the racks on, but it seems doubtful that you can. Has anyone actually done it?

My son is selling his bike. See it on Craigslist here:

Its not a KLR but I forgive him.
