lowered seats

I mentioned a bit back that I was considering a lowered seat.
Assuming I were to buy one, what is the general consensus on brand? I've seen Corbin get a lot of good press. Then there is Sargent, and lastly TPI, which I've also read is made by Sargent; I never heard of TPI until last night.
I am looking mainly at the dual platform type seats. I think for my use, these would be perfect. Corbin and TPI each make them. Sargents World Sport Seat, low version, does not have as much of a step as the Corbin and the TPI, and honestly, I think the Corbin and TPI look nicer. But, my backside won't care what it looks like after 200 miles......
I know that opinions vary regarding lowering seats; I'd personally rather lower the seat than the suspension.
So, all that said, can anyone tell me why I should pay $379 for the Corbin, or $359 for the Sargent, when I could buy the TPI for $299? Is TPI a good name? It really isn't that much more money to buy the Corbin, but, if I don't have to, why should I? On the other hand, Corbin has a very good reputation.
So, I am leaning Corbin, but I am interested in opinions and experience regarding all these seats. Also, I see that Corbin has various options as far as the material used. What is recommended?
I know that it would be best to try one out first, but that is unlikely, as I live in the sticks of NE PA, and finding someone semi-local for one, much less all three, is going to be tough.
Finally, are there other brands that I may have not heard about? Anything else I should be looking at?
