lowered seats

Post by Charles » Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:28 am

I mentioned a bit back that I was considering a lowered seat. Assuming I were to buy one, what is the general consensus on brand? I've seen Corbin get a lot of good press. Then there is Sargent, and lastly TPI, which I've also read is made by Sargent; I never heard of TPI until last night. I am looking mainly at the dual platform type seats. I think for my use, these would be perfect. Corbin and TPI each make them. Sargents World Sport Seat, low version, does not have as much of a step as the Corbin and the TPI, and honestly, I think the Corbin and TPI look nicer. But, my backside won't care what it looks like after 200 miles...... I know that opinions vary regarding lowering seats; I'd personally rather lower the seat than the suspension. So, all that said, can anyone tell me why I should pay $379 for the Corbin, or $359 for the Sargent, when I could buy the TPI for $299? Is TPI a good name? It really isn't that much more money to buy the Corbin, but, if I don't have to, why should I? On the other hand, Corbin has a very good reputation. So, I am leaning Corbin, but I am interested in opinions and experience regarding all these seats. Also, I see that Corbin has various options as far as the material used. What is recommended? I know that it would be best to try one out first, but that is unlikely, as I live in the sticks of NE PA, and finding someone semi-local for one, much less all three, is going to be tough. Finally, are there other brands that I may have not heard about? Anything else I should be looking at? Chuck F. NE PA ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. I remember reading you response "forever" when you originally sent it. I thought you were being serious/ funny, but not a smart a$$. I Average 4,000 miles a year. (21,000 miles on the bike now) and I have never even adjusted the cable play. I have no doubt, the clutch could last until the motor needs rebuilt. Rick A17

It's more than enough clutch for this bike. Mine shows 46xxx on the odo. Actual mileage is closer to 50k. I experienced a little slippage last year, but a new cable and correct adjustment rectified it. They may not all last forever, but I think you may reasonably expect your clutch to outlast the engine. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogro ups.com, Luc Legrain wrote: > > AAAH , YES, LIKE THEY SAY .....
