I iron-butted to Daytona and back on D606 tires. Very stable for me, all the way up to 96.6mph (GPS speed). I cruised often at 80mph. Maybe the D606 tires revealed a hidden issue (suspension, bearings, rim-warpage, etc) with your bike that other tires were able to absorb.
