You're on the right track, Dave. If there is too much air in the system, you can't develop enough pressure to unseat the check valve.

How does this thing work? My guess is, it has a one way valve that will release fluid after opening it a half turn or so and pumping the brake. But nothing is happening. Should I try filling the new brake line first, then bleed?
